Therapy and Counseling for women in healthcare, online across california

My Story

Hi, I’m Elizabeth Camargo Garcia. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works with women who are struggling with the anxiety, stress, and overwhelm caused by the day-to-day stressors of the high demanding career. My goal is to help you stop feeling constantly worried, stuck, stressed and overwhelmed. and start encouraging you to see healing and transformation in all that you do.

My Journey To Becoming A Therapist

I’m no different from the clients I see. Like everyone else, I’m human. I’ve been been through both wonderful and difficult experiences that have shaped who I am and how I help.

In my early years, having majored in Women Studies, I quickly became aware of the need to provide services to our population of women. My own path in life has been affected by fertility issues, grief and loss, as well as major career life transitions. This is what helps me stay passionate about my work helping women seeking personal growth from their struggles in life.

My life experiences are what lead me to become the Therapist I am today.

Helping People Recharges Me

Being a Therapist is rewarding. I love helping people become healthier and more empowered and watching them transform their lives. The most rewarding thing about being a Therapist is inspiring others to be all they can be.

I am committed to encouraging you to see healing and transformation.

I Have A Strong Pull Towards Helping And Bring Clarifying And Energizing Presence To Sessions

I have a natural ability to:

  • Understand people’s experiences
  • Uncover what’s under the surface
  • Collaborate with people to set goals and help them reach them
  • Help clients heal their past and manage the present

People who know me often say that I am a good listener who can be fully present for people’s stories, even if they are difficult stories.

Our Sessions Are Focused On You

Sessions will provide you with the space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals. In feeling safe and comfortable, you’ll be able to gain clarity.

It’s important to me to check in on your progress as we go. There isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to Therapy and Counseling. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.

As A Therapist, I Embrace The Following Philosophies

  • I believe that you are worthy of love and care
  • I believe that change is possible when you allow yourself the space to do the work
  • I believe that you are strong enough to be present with what you may be going through
  • I believe that taking care of yourself is the most generous thing you can do for the world
  • I believe that sometimes small steps in the right direction end up being the biggest steps in the end

My Professional Background

In my undergraduate studies at the University of California, Irvine, my bachelor’s in Women’s Studies helped me obtain the knowledge on working with women through the many facets of adversity that women face.  I further focused on research surrounding fertility and surrogacy.  Following my undergraduate work, I worked in healthcare epidemiology for 20 years in acute care hospital settings in the Greater Los Angeles area.  It is through this area of my life, that I became passionate about working with women in the healthcare industry.  I completed my graduate studies in clinical psychology at Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, which also gave me the opportunity to specialize in Latinx Family Systems and am able to provide therapy from a Latinx cultural lens for Latinas impacted by cultural aspects of life.
